Service and Employment Opportunities

PHEAA jobs:

Illustrator: We are looking for students to design all media/advertising pieces for a new inner-city agricultural program. The Illustrator would also be in charge of enhancing old advertising resources. This job is great for getting experience. All work will go into their portfolio.


After school program assistant:The student will be used in planning activities, tutoring, mentoring and educating students (many are ESL); and serving snack in the IMPACT after school program. Position is ideal for education majors or child psychology majors. No experience is required. A majority of the students are immigrant youth.


Volunteer Coordinator:The student will assist in the procurement of volunteers through a variety of means (speaking, writing, word-of-mouth). The student will also be instrumental in updating recruitment materials, training materials. skills: organization, PowerPoint, public speaking, energy.


Youth Program Leader:The student will help staff plan and implement enrichment programs for youth (health, sport, art, etc) and organize weekend trips, field trips and sporting activities. Student should have energy and think creatively.

Length of commitment: Flexible

Dates Needed: ASAP. Mon.-Fri. 2:30-5:30pm. Volunteers choose a day of the week to come in (i.e., Monday) and will come in weekly when asked.

Location of Volunteer work: Urban Erie Quality of Life Learning Center, 2046 East 19th Street, Erie PA


Duties: The student will help staff plan and implement enrichment programs for youth (health, sport, art, etc) and organize weekend trips, field trips and sporting activities.



Desired Qualifications: Student should have energy and be able to think creatively. A willingness to work with children of immigrant parents is a must. Patience is necessary.


What is meaningful: As a volunteer, individuals will gain rewarding
about this position? experiences by helping to enhance the lives of at-risk youth in a poverty-stricken area of Erie by introducing them to a wide array of opportunities, hobbies, sports and passions.

Training: Provided on site.

Dates Needed: ASAP. Monday – Friday 2:30pm – 5:00pm. Volunteers choose a day of the week to come in and will come in weekly.


Location of Volunteer work: Urban Erie Quality of Life Learning Center, 2046 East 19th Street, Erie PA


Duties: Supervise (many of which are ESL) students K-12; mentor, educate, tutor; serve snacks; set up and cleanup activities; plan enrichment programming


Desired Qualifications: Volunteer must have a desire to work with children
and patience. We will train on site.

What is meaningful about this position? As a volunteer, individuals will gain rewarding experiences by helping young people develop academic and life skills.

Training: Provided on site.

Worth for you: experiencing planning/implementing alt-education curriculum; experience in educating immigrant students; organizational skills. It is great for Education majors, Child Psych majors and International Studies majors.
