Senior Education Students


Dear Teacher Candidates,

It is that time of year again where we are getting ready for the Annual PERC Teacher Job Fair.  Below are instructions on how to register for the fair.  For specific questions, please email or stop by your Career Center or visit the PERC general website at: www.percjobfair.org.  Please read the information carefully so that your job fair registration is efficient and successful.  We look forward to seeing you at the PERC teacher job fair very soon!

PERC (Pittsburgh Education Recruitment Consortium) TEACHER JOB FAIR REGISTRATION

1.    Date:  Wednesday, March 20, 2013

Place:  Monroeville Convention Center
Time:  9:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

2.    ELIGIBILITY

The following eligibility requirements apply to all qualified graduating students and alumni wishing to attend the consortium:

a.       You must have an education degree and/or certification, be a candidate for an OT/PT/SLP degree, a school counseling degree, or a related professional certification from a college or university participating in this consortium.  No exceptions will be made. (A list of college/university consortium members is available at www.percjobfair.org – Gannon University is a member.)

b.      You must pay your $10.00 pre-registration fee.  You may register one of two ways:

1). PREFERRED: You are encouraged to use our online registration form.  This form requires you to use a credit or debit card. Please access the registration from the PERC website. This is the registration site for all participating schools. Registration is open and will be live until Friday, March 8, 2013.

2).   ALTERNATE: If you do not have a credit or debit card, you are also able to register for the fair at your Career Center by bringing $10.00 and submitting the attached Candidate Registration form to your Career Center by Friday, March 8, 2013.  Pre-registrations received after March 8, 2013 will not be processed and you must register as a walk-in the day of the event ($25.00 cash only).  If you register in-person at your Career Center (instead of online) please be sure to request a receipt from your Career Center verifying your payment of $10.00.

c.       Your name must appear on the roster of paid candidates submitted to PERC by your Career Center. (KEEP YOUR RECEIPT OR BRING YOUR PRINTED FORM FROM THE ONLINE REGISTRATION!!)

Arthur author Marc Brown - Friday, january 25th at 7pm

Marc Brown will be visiting with us this Friday!

If you have young children, chances are you're familiar with the popular Arthur books, written by Erie native Marc Brown. Gannon will host a guest lecture by Brown at 7 p.m. this Friday, Jan. 25 in the Yehl Ballroom. Brown will sign copies of his books following his lecture, which is titled, "The Secrets of Getting Children to Love Reading.”  This is free and open to the public.

PEPP tutoring positions available

Penn State Educational Partnership Program PEPP


The Penn State Educational Partnership Program is an after-school tutoring program for students at-risk for  not reaching their academic potential.  We need full-time college students to tutor high school and middle school students.  Tutors earn $10 per hour.

Welcome Back!

Happy New Year and Welcome Back Students!

Please put January 22 on your calendar for a required all education major meeting.  The meeting will be held at 11 am.  More details will be shared via email soon.

Finally, please wish Mrs. Whiteman good luck as she once again becomes Interim Director of the School of Education!

Part Time Tutor positions

TUTORS.  The Penn State Educational Partnership Program (PEPP), an after school tutoring program for students at-risk for not reaching their academic potential, needs tutors for middle school and high school students.  The first day of work for Wayne or Wilson Middle School is Monday, January 28th; and the first day of work for Central Tech High School is Tuesday, February 5th.  Carpooling to tutoring sites may be available.  For more information and to apply, contact Kathy at (814) 874-6261 or kld7@psu.edu
