A Special Event: Waiting for Superman

 

Dear friends, 

 

The School of Education is pleased to announce a screening of the film “Waiting for Superman” on Sunday, March 20 from 7:00-9:30 pm in Room 219 Waldron.

 

This feature film provides an engaging and inspiring look at public education in the United States.  It is the 2010 Winner of the Audience Award at the Sundance Film Festival,  2010 Winner of the Best Documentary at the National Board of Review, and was featured in Time Magazine’s Top Ten Movies of the Year.  We hope that you will be able to join us for this event.

Waiting for Superman Events

What is Waiting for Superman?

Waiting for superman is a 2010 documentary film that
focuses on the “failures” of American public education.
The film has brought many educators to cry out and voice
their opinions on the real reasons for these “failures.”
Director Davis Guggenheim also directed the Academy
Award-winning film, An Inconvenient Truth.

Praxis II Testing Requirements for "new" certificates

Good news for our Pre-K-Grade 4, Middle Level Grades 4-8, and Special Education Pre-K-Grade 8 majors! Pennsylvania has finally identified the Praxis II exams for these new certificate areas.  Here’s the info:

1. Testing Requirements for New Certificates: The Bureau of School Leadership

and Teacher Quality announced the testing requirements for the new Chapter 49

certificates in August of 2010. The Bureau will accept the following Praxis tests

for the new certificates until new tests are available in April, 2012.

 

Please note: The PPSTs are required as basic skills tests for all certificate areas.

 

Pre K-4

Fundamental Subjects: Content Knowledge (0511)

Early Childhood Education (0020)

 

Grades 4-8

Fundamental Subjects: Content Knowledge (0511)

Elementary Education: Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment (0011)

Praxis II content area tests for 7-9 middle level areas

 

Special Education (pre K-8)
